Kitties are wonderful pets. They’re cute, cuddly, clean, playful, and easy to care for. Fluffy also has a special way of warming our hearts with her soothing purrs and affectionate snuggles. But how do you tell if your cat is content? A Wake Forest, NC vet lists some ways to please your feline overlord below.
Boxes
One of Fluffy’s cutest traits is her obsession with boxes. Offer your pet a cardboard box or empty grocery bag on occasion. If you really want to go all-out, give your kitty a box castle. This is a great rainy-day project for kids!
Beds
We probably don’t have to tell you that cats take their beauty rest very seriously. Fluffy can spend up to 20 hours a day napping! Make sure your sleepy pet has plenty of comfy beds and napping spots to choose from for those 27 daily naps. As far as kitties are concerned, there’s no such thing as too many beds!
Catnip
Kitties can be absolutely hilarious when they are enjoying the effects of catnip. Give your feline pal a bit of ‘nip now and then. This may be just as entertaining for you as it is for her! (Tip: If your furry friend seems unimpressed by catnip, offer her some honeysuckle toys instead.)
Treats
Cats may be more finicky than our canine companions, but that doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy food. Offer Fluffy a special snack on occasion. Your kitty can have plain, canned, tuna; shredded deli meat; cooked, plain meat, fish, or poultry; or store-bought treats.
Play Sessions
Fluffy may look cute and innocent, but your adorable little house pet is actually a ferocious predator by heart. Help your kitty unleash her inner lioness by playing with her every day. This will benefit her both mentally and physically. (Plus, it’s cute to watch.)
Cuddle Time
Fluffy may try to act as though she is aloof and independent, but at the end of the day she is very affectionate. Even cats that don’t like to be held often enjoy hanging out with their humans. Pay attention to your feline friend, and make sure she feels loved. Talk to her, pet her, and let her snooze on your lap if she likes.
