Carah Petit Wheeler
Day Camp Coordinator & Kennel ManagerI grew up in Northern Virginia then moved to Youngsville, North Carolina in 2000 with my daughter. I have been involved in the fitness industry since I was 17 years old and I enjoy running and working out.
My greatest passion is animals and I have worked with cats and dogs since 2005. I have always been fortunate to work the “fun part” of Day Camp in my animal care jobs. Outside of the hospital, I also work with the Southern Mastiff rescue group where I have rescued my own two personal beauties, Raina and Louise.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with the group of people at Tuscan Ridge Animal Hospital and do what I love!
Pet GroomingI was born in Raleigh, NC and have lived in North Carolina all my life. I have been an All Breed Professional Pet Groomer since 1994. I attended grooming school at Atlantic Coast Academy of Animal Arts in Cary, NC and I graduated Dec. 16, 1994. I have also completed the Veterinary Dermatology Certification Course so I am certified and aware of skin issues that require medicated baths and special attention.
I feel I have a special way of dealing with pets if they are scared or nervous. I make them feel comfortable, therefore I have a great amount of success in not having to sedate these pets. It is my goal to make your pet feel relaxed and enjoy their time when with me. I keep up with the latest grooming trends, products, and equipment to help make your pet look and feel their best.
I have always had a love for animals and a passion to work with them. I take pride in my work and have a gentle touch with all pets including puppies and older pets. I enjoy being able to spend quality time with my furry friends and think of them as family. I look forward to seeing my clients daily and welcome new ones as well.
When I am not grooming I love spending time with my family and friends. I have a husband, three sons and two rescue dogs (lab/border collie mix and a Carolina wild dog mix). I love all sports but my favorites are hockey and football. I am very passionate about my teams, which are The Carolina Hurricanes, UNC Tar heels and Washington Redskins, and love watching them as much as I can.
My goal is when my kids are grown I want to donate my free time and groom at animal shelters to help the animals feel good, look nice and ready to find their “fur-ever” home.
Andrea has worked in veterinary medicine since 2015, but her love for animals started well before that. She has always wanted to work with animals, and even at a young age was involved with pet sitting and day camps. Now she gets to work with animals every day and loves every single minute of it!
At home, she has two rescue dogs – a 9-year-old cocker spaniel named Gracie and a 3-year-old chihuahua named Teagan. “I love them with everything I have! They are the best, most loving dogs ever! Adopt don’t shop!”
Outside of work, she loves spending time with her dogs, hanging out with friends, and she even coaches a special needs cheerleading team!
Brittany has been in veterinary medicine since July 2016 and with Tuscan Ridge Animal Hospital since September of 2016! First and foremost, Brittany loves being able to help animals, and also their families! Even better, she gets to bring her dogs to work with her every day to spend time at our camp. Brittany loves the team and getting to work with so many people that are passionate about animals. Her favorite days are when new foster puppies and kittens come in.
At home, she has two rescue dogs and two rescue cats. First, there was Lilly the pitbull who is quite the love bug! Next came her brother Sebastian, who is a husky mix with the most beautiful blue eyes. Her cats are Mowgli (an orange tabby) and Zoey, a DLH tuxedo, who is just as sweet as can be. She loves her furbabies like children!
Outside of work, Brittany loves being outside and going to the beach and lake. She also loves spending time with family and taking trips to new places. However, she also loves relaxing at home with her animals. She calls herself a shopaholic and says that LuLaRoe is life!
Kristy has been with Tuscan Ridge Animal Hospital since the end of 2017 and found the perfect job because she loves being around animals all day!
Kristy has a strong passion and love for animals, and wanted to be in a position to help them feel safe and loved when they’re at the vet. As an added bonus, she brings her dog to work with her every day!
Her dog is Bailey, a 3-year-old Whipador. They are best friends and even share a birthday! How cool is that? Kristy says, “she has made my life so much better.”
At home, she enjoys being outside, going to the lake or beach with her dog and husband, and spending time with her family.
Day Camp Counselor/Kennel Attendant
Emily has been with Tuscan Ridge since December of 2016 and has been making pets in our care happy and comfortable ever since. While running the day camp, she loves getting to know the dogs and watching their interactions with other campers.
At home, she has five dogs of her own (four females and one male). Bug is a one-year-old border collie mix. Comet is a two-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd/Husky mix. Dusty is a nine-year-old MinPin mix and is the resident lobby dog at Tuscan Ridge. Evey is a four-year-old Doberman mix. Scarlett is an eight-year-old hound mix!
When she’s not at work, she loves spending time with friends and her dogs. She also enjoys attending Carolina Hurricanes hockey games!
