The holiday season is fast approaching and that means it’s time to travel. Today we have some tips for you on whether or not you’re traveling with your pet. If you are traveling without your pet, we have you covered!

Tuscan Ridge Animal Hospital provides loving and personalized pet boarding in Wake Forest. Our staff cares deeply about the wellness of your pet and the quality of their stay, unconditionally loving your animal as if they’re our own. To ensure your pet’s safety, we are fully equipped with veterinary services through our associated animal hospital. We have kennels for dogs and cats, and you can even complete your boarding forms online! It doesn’t get any simpler than that!

If you are taking your pet on a trip with you, we have some quick tips for you!

  1. Do a practice run! If your pet doesn’t go on long car rides often, be sure to start taking them on longer and longer trips to see how they do. If they don’t do well, contact us to find out what we can provide that can help them relax in the car.
  2. Keep the windows closed. We’ve all seen dogs sticking their heads out the windows of moving cars, but this can lead to ear damage, lung infections, or worse.

  3. Plan for pit stops. Allow extra time so you can stop at least every three hours (or more frequently if you have a puppy or senior dog) for your dog to use the bathroom, drink some water, and move around a bit. Hey, it will be good for you, too!
  4. Check the chip. If your pup somehow gets lost while away from home, he’ll be much more likely to be returned to you if he’s microchipped and wearing a collar with proper identification tags. Call us today to schedule a chip scan to make sure everything is ready for your trip.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us! We want to make sure your family has an amazing trip, whether your pet is involved or not.
